Oliver Torr


Oliver Torr is a Europe-based multidisciplinary artist, composer, and sound designer.

He draws on impulsive improvisation, technology, extreme ends of sonics and composition, often involving custom instruments and software in his performances.

Oliver is an active figure in art and performance spaces, showcased in various galleries across Europe and beyond, including 17 Ashfield (London), Crazy Glue (New York), Greenhouse (Berlin), Industra (Brno), Funkhaus (Berlin), Prague Quadrennial (Prague), CTM Festival in Berghain (Berlin), Rewire Festival (Den Haag), Sonic Acts (Amsterdam), Iklectik in (London).

He has made music and sound design for various films and video art pieces.

Torr’s work has been presented by Mubi, Berlinale, Las Palmas Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival, Prague Quadrennial, KVIFF, Transilvania International Film Festival, Berlinale Dokumente, CPH:DOX Denmark, Films de Femmes France.

As sound designer he worked with Bitwig (Berlin), the Digital Audio Workstation (Berlin), Bastl Instruments (Prague), and has also collaborated with Ableton and Native Instruments.

He has held lectures, talks, and workshops at Newcastle University, FAVU Brno, Superbooth Berlin, Catalyst Berlin.

Oliver has released his music on various labels, including WARE, clam:pressure, Mille Plateaux, LTE, WOH, Extra Muros, Phonon, Iklectik London, The Wire Magazine label, Punctum, and others.

Hi’s DJ mixes have been featured on NTS radio, BBC radio, Stegi.radio, Radio Punctum, Hong Kong Community Radio, Mutant Radio, Meetfactory, GRM Paris, and Cashmere Radio.
